Look kindly Lord on this your child now seeking

Author: Charles Henrywood

Look kindly Lord on this your child now seeking,
To join your Church that he might follow you.
Grant him the strength to make the right decisions,
And live his life as you would want him to.
For we are sure your word will help and guide him,
Your arm protect 'gainst harm from foe and fear.
Your love enfold him as through life he journeys;
Help him to know that you for ever will be near.

Help Lord, we pray, his parents and godparents,
To be for him a model of your care.
May they be wise and strong and understanding,
Your love and peace, dear Lord, with him to share.
For we are sure your word will help and guide them,
Your arm protect 'gainst harm from foe and fear.
Your love enfold them as through life they journey;
Help them to know that you for ever will be near.

Remind us, Lord, that we too made a promise,
To give support to child and family.
Show us how best to follow in your footsteps,
To live your love and bring them close to Thee
For we are sure your word will help and guide us,
Your arm protect 'gainst harm from foe and fear.
Your love enfold us as through life we journey;
Help us to know that you for ever will be near.
